Cole Slaw
This recipe, from an old family friend, has been described as a "Carolina BBQ Slaw." No mayo, no sour cream, just great flavor. And it's always a crowd pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 1 cabbage (medium-sized. Shredded)
  • 3 carrots (peeled and grated)
  • 1 onion (large. Grated)
  • â…“ cup sugar (or agave or honey)
  • ¼ cup cider vinegar
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  • Combine the cabbage, carrots, and onion in a large bowl
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the sugar and vinegar until the sugar dissolves. Keep stirring. If you're using sugar (and not agave or honey), it may take a bit of time to dissolve. That’s okay
  • Pour the sugar mixture over the cabbage mixture. Season with salt and pepper. Chill for at least 30 minutes (or overnight, which is better), and season to taste with salt and pepper
