Fast Pear Chutney
This is a great way to make your meat and seafood dishes a bit zippier. And it's perfect when pears are fresh in the fall.

Ingredients
- ½ cup sugar
- 6 tablespoons cider vinegar
- 2 pears (peeled, cored, and diced)
- 1 shallot (peeled and minced)
- ¼ cup raisins
- 1 tablespoon crystalized ginger (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves (optional)
Instructions
- Combine sugar and vinegar in large saucepan, bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves
- Add remaining ingredients and simmer, uncovered, until slightly thickened, and the pears are cooked through. Stir occasionally while cooking
- Remove the cloves, and serve warm or at room temperature
