Hard Chocolate Dipping Sauce
Who doesn't love soft-serve ice cream, and having that chocolate sauce poured over it? And then it hardens on the ice cream. Here's that sauce! It's perfect over any ice cream, not just soft-serve. Nothing says summertime, all year round, like this treat!

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces dark chocolate (or bittersweet, chopped, or chocolate chips)
  • 4 ounces butter (1 stick, cut into small pieces )

Instructions

  • In a double boiler, or in a stainless steel bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, melt the chocolate and butter
  • After the chocolate and butter have melted, whisk them together, and cool them down to approximately 80º-85ºF
  • Make sure your ice cream is very cold for this step: carefully dip the ice cream cone into the chocolate, or pour the chocolate over the ice cream, in a thin stream. It will then harden on the ice cream

Notes

If you don’t eat this all at once, refrigerate it, and gently warm it for later use
