Simple Cranberry Sauce

1 cup sugar

1 cup orange juice or water

1 12-ounce package fresh cranberries

zest of one orange

  1. In a medium saucepan, add the sugar and orange juice. Bring to boil, and add the cranberries
  2. Return the mixture to a boil, and reduce the heat to medium low. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The sauce is ready when most of the cranberries have burst
  3. Remove from heat. If you were to add any additional flavors (see below), add them now, and let it cool to room temperature
  4. Refrigerate, and serve chilled. It will thicken when it’s cooled

Makes approximately 2 ¼ cups
