Ingredients

  • ½ cup tamari (or soy sauce)
  • ¾ cup water (divided)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger (grated)
  • 1 garlic clove (peeled and minced)
  • 3 tablespoons honey (or agave. More may be needed)
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, combine the tamari, ½ cup of water, ginger, garlic, honey, and sesame oil. Bring to a simmer over a medium-high heat
  • While the sauce is heating, whisk together the cornstarch and remaining ¼ cup of water until no lumps remain
  • When the sauce starts simmering, whisk in the cornstarch mixture. Whisk frequently until the sauce thickens
  • If the sauce is too thick, whisk in warm water, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you like the texture
  • Adjust the flavor, as needed, with additional honey
