Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole milk yogurt
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • In a bowl, mix together the yogurt and salt
  • Place the yogurt into a double layer of cheesecloth, a tea towel, or an ultrafine mesh strainer
  • If using cheesecloth or a tea towel, place it in a strainer or colander, and cover with plastic wrap. Place in a bowl so the strainer doesn’t touch the bottom
  • If using an ultrafine mesh strainer, cover with plastic wrap. Place in a bowl so the strainer doesn’t touch the bottom
  • Chill in the refrigerator for 24-48 hours
  • Your labneh is now ready to eat!

Notes

Labneh suggestions:
  • It can be used instead of cream cheese, and is perfect on a bagel with smoked salmon and chives
  • As an appetizer, it’s great when it’s drizzled with olive oil, with a dusting of herbs and spices, plus other flavors, including smoked paprika, za’atar, chopped nuts, lemon zest, chives, red onion, roasted red pepper, and more! Serve it with pita bread, carrots, celery, cucumber slices, or whatever you have in your fridge or pantry
